Automation projects at Bridgestone

AGE Technologies have been a preferred supplier to the Bridgestone tyre factory in Brits, for the past six years. An upgrade has been done on all the control systems in the Top Materials Preparation Section of the factory to the latest Rockwell technology.

• SCADA systems were upgraded to PanelView Plus HMI's
• PLCs to Rockwell's flagship Control Logix PLCs.

Three SCADA systems control three batch mixers and an added bonus is that the new mixer reporting system allows the production team to track 'Off' batches using Visual Basics through RS links allowing data to be extracted from the system. Reports from the system are also sent to Bridgestone's Oracle database for historical purposes.

Two engineers from AGE are permanently situated on site at Bridgestone in Brits. Their long term relationship has resulted in extensive knowledge of Bridgestone's processes and 'Best Practice' principles, has enabled skilful integration of products from a number of suppliers resulting in performance and high levels of reliability.
